NILA and the American Hospital Association (AHA) Urge NAIC to Take Action on UnitedHealthcare Designated Diagnostic Provider (DDP) Program

On June 3, 2021, NILA and the American Hospital Association forwarded a letter to the National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC) urging NAIC to oppose implementation of UnitedHealthcare’s Designated Diagnostic Provider (DDP) program. The program would create a tiered benefit design that would leave patients without access to adequate laboratory services, resulting in surprise bills for patients and uncompensated testing services for laboratories.
